We Nurse Practitioners are Certified by a National Certifying body… we should be able to have full practice authority in every state. The only reason we don’t now is because of paternalistic control issues which are “CONTROLLED” by the Medical Profession and Attorneys who create the laws… special interests, etc.

It’s disappointing that the people and national health care loses out because of this. After all, there have been MULTIPLE STUDIES which show that Nurse Practitioners give just as safe and effective care as Physicians. Yes, We even know when to refer out, and talk to other providers to seek their expertise, when we aren’t certain of Dx or treatment, or there is a complicated case. Doesn’t EVERY GOOD PROVIDER DO THAT?

Yes, there is documented research which has been reproduced numerous times, stating NPs can do the job safely and effectively.
What’s that tell you?
