Dr. Raphel provided very interesting data on the incidence of mental illness in the U.S. and internationally. I gained a wealth of information on depression and suicide of adolescents, workplace violence, and the impact of culture. Nurses and educators need to keep these issues in the forefront as we provide care to patients and families and develop curriculum for to prepare future nurses to care for people with mental illness.
