George Zangaro responds: The survey is going to ask if you are a RN, NP, CRNA, CNM, or CNS. We will be able to report each separately. However, we are not going to be able to report the CRNA, CNM or CNS at the state level because of small sample sizes. We are not including CNA’s in the survey this is a National Sample Survey of Registered Nurses. Further, to a survey on CNA’s would be difficult because there is no database that would allow us to locate these individuals. At this time, we do not have the resources to conduct a survey of CNA’s.

Are you going to include C.R.N.A.s too? Unless you separate the responses by job title the results would not reflect what each needed discipline needed “to better support their work.” You might as well include C.N.A,s in the survey too. The difference in practice between an R.N., N.P. and C.R.N.A. is so great that a uniform survey would be of little use. I know much can be learned by this survey but unless you separate responses by what the “nurse” does, the information would be questionable.
